Christian Infidelity - Devotionals For Women Who Have Been Betrayed
Author: Marsha Rozalski
Are you suffering from Christian infidelity? It was July 2004 when I first discovered that my husband had been having an affair for the past year. I was utterly devastated and heartbroken. The world as I knew it no longer existed and everything I thought we were was a lie. My world was upside down and I could not function. I suffered in pain for months and I could never seem to find a way out of the pain either.
After a year, I became really depressed because I thought I would no longer be in any pain by the time a year had gone by. I don't know why I thought this, but when that year mark came and I was still in so much pain I almost gave up. To me, a year was a long time but when it comes to healing from Christian infidelity, a year is nothing. It literally takes 2-5 years to truly heal from an affair. So, I finally made up my mind that I would wait the full five years and if I still was in a lot of pain at the five year mark, and then I would give up.
Guess what? It took 4½ years for us to become totally healed. I'm glad I decided to wait the full five years. What really helped me through the dark times and the pain of Christian infidelity was my daily devotions. Without them I would not have fully healed and I wouldn't be as happy as I am now.
The reality is that 80% of marriages and these include Christian ones are affected by infidelity. There are many cases of Christian infidelity in today's churches and this concerns me greatly. When affairs happen in Christian marriages we need to draw closer to God and let Him heal our broken hearts so we in turn can forgive and love our spouse's. I know that without God I never could have forgiven my spouse for cheating on me.
Don't turn away from God during this time in your life because you need Him now more than ever. Don't let this Christian infidelity make you turn away from God. Instead, go towards Him and let God carry you during these dark times. Let Him wrap His loving arms around you and let Him fill your spirit with love, peace and comfort. You can do all this by doing daily devotions just for the betrayed spouse.
